Specific surface area of carbon nanotubes and bundles of carbon nanotubes
The theoretical external specific surface area of singleand multi-walled carbon nanotubes and of carbon nanotube bundles is calculated as a function of their characteristics (diameter, number of walls, number of nanotubes in a bundle). The results are reported in diagrams and tables useful to correlate the microscopic characteristics and the specific surface area of samples. The calculated valu...

boron nitride semiconducting zigzag swcnt, $b_{cb}$$n_{cn}$$c_{1-cb-cn}$, as a potential candidate for making nanoelectronic devices was examined. in contrast to the previous dft calculations, wherein just one boron and nitrogen doping configuration have been considered, here for the average over all possible configurations, density of states (dos) was calculated in terms of boron and nitrogen ...

In a sample produced by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD), the structure of the carbon nanotubes (diameter and helicity) which governs their electronic properties, is determined by electron diffraction. We found that most of the smallest bundles are constituted of identical double-walled carbon nanotubes.
متن کاملPolysulfone/ Carbon Nanotubes Asymmetric Nanocomposite Membranes: Effect of Nanotubes Surface Modification on Morphology and Water Permeability
Polysulfone/carbon nanotubes (PSF/CNTs) nanocomposite membrane was prepared via phase inversion induced by immersion precipitation technique. In addition, the surface of the CNTs were functionalized by polar carboxylic and amine groups to improve the interaction between the CNTs and the polymer matrix. For this purpose, the neat CNTs were chemically treated using sulfuric acid/ nitric acid (H2S...
متن کاملEtching of carbon nanotubes by ozone--a surface area study.
The oxidative etching of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is useful for opening the end caps and the sidewalls of the nanotubes to provide access to the interior. We have studied the effect of successive treatment of SWNTs by 95% pure O(3)(g), which is a powerful and convenient oxidizing agent. The surface area of the SWNTs was measured following exposure to O(3)(g) at 300 K and also foll...
